This is an easy recipe idea. Brandy or whiskey bonbons, as we know them, are chocolate truffles filled with sweet liquor that gushes out when the shell is punctured. This isn’t quite so feasible at home, so we offer this easy alternative.

Ingredients:
- Some leftover chocolate cake, broken in pieces. 1 cup-2 cups. (a good way to use up those unused corners of a birthday cake. If using a non-chocolate sponge, simply add some brown sugar and cocoa to the mixture.)
- a few spoonfulls of brandy or whiskey
- dark chocolate for coating.
- cocoa powder for dusting, if desired
Directions:
break the cake up into small pieces and add the whiskey or brandy. Add a little bit more at a time, kneading to form a moist ball.
form small inch large balls and roll in the cocoa powder. You can coat the balls with melted chocolate if you wish, but take care they do not break inside the chocolate bowl.
chill on aluminum foil in the freezer or in small foil truffle cups. Great for Valentine gifts.

Wow, so simple…I wanna try these. That is, IF there’s ever any leftover chocolate cake. Slim chance but maybe worth a try. Txs. Those pics look good, all that dark cake. Love the stuff.
